Sunday May 11, 2014 - Mother's Day downtown with the tulips

As is tradition for us, even though some years the outing has been postponed due to weather, for Mother's Day we head downtown. We get a crepe at the wonderful place in the market, pick out a pastry each from a Moulin de Provence and head to major hill park to have our pastry, see the tulips and run around and have fun. 

Campbell really enjoying his pastry selection this year. I must say it did look yummy, some sort of chocolate moose creation.

April 20, 2014 - Easter Sunday

Easter bunny this year played a game with the boys. He gave them each a few things in a basket outside their bedroom doors. One of the things was an empty Lego kit and a note telling each of them that the pieces to their set were hidden in plastic eggs in the playroom with a specific type of sticker on it. One of the stickers was on the note. They had a blast finding their 7 eggs and then they got to put together their set which made 3 different things.

Campbell the Lego maniac. Before the day was over he had made all three vehicles that you could with his kit and a few of his own creations. 

Opening some gifts from Newfoundland. Oma brought Easter goodies from Bracebridge when she came to visit the end of March too. So there is no shortage of chocolate treats in our house.

The Easter bunny also brought the boys a my first garden kit each. Campbell's kit is tomatoes and Mile's is popcorn. They had a ball wetting it and then planting the seeds. And they did grow. I think the boys are better with plants than the parents. 

Saturday April 19, 2014 - Montreal Biodome visit

So for an adventure for the Easter long weekend we decided to drive to Montreal and check out the biodome for the day with the kids. The biodome has 5 different sections that are climatized to different areas of the world such as the tropical rain forest, the laurentian forest, Labrador coast, etc. They have animals and birds that live in the areas living there with plants etc from there. It is quite neat to see. The boys loved it. 

After you walk out of the bat cave area there are these to help you look like a bat.

Near the biodome is the botanical gardens and in which they have greenhouse that had an exhibit called butterflies set free. An area of the greenhouse that you walk through and there are a huge number of butterflies just everywhere. It was amazing. Campbell wanted one to land on him so badly that he walked through like this, "being a tree" trying and hoping that one would land on him. Of course they didn't. I don't know why but they didn't. He still loved it but he was definitely disappointed. I felt so bad for him. 

At the entrance to the biodome a lady that worked there handed us a large sheet that had over 70 types of birds on it and pictures to go with the names. She said we had to try and find as many as we could while going through. Campbell just loved this is him checking off some of the birds he saw in the laurentian area. He saw 22 and he got to sign his name in a book on the page for 22. He was super proud and got a puffin stamp for his hand. 

It was an amazing day. When we finally made it home at 8:30 in the night, I thought Campbell would be tired and not so thrilled about the trip. But he came in the house and said "this was the best adventure ever." That was the best thing to hear. We all had a blast. 

Thursday April 10, 2014 - Sugar Bush Field Trip

So one of the benefits to having flexible contract work is that I get to spend more time with the kids. Sometimes that is challenging but sometimes it makes for some wonderful shared experiences.

Like getting to volunteer on Campbell's school field trip to the sugar bush. 

Campbell was so thrilled that I was going and then he found out that my group of three was him and his two best buddies. It was so great to see him so excited about me going. Here are a few pictures of our fun time. The four buddies Campbell said.

Friday June 21, 2013 - Last Art Class.

The boys took an art class on Friday mornings from the beginning of April to today.. It was great.. they got to do their own thing and make a mess and really try some things out.. It was fun and there was a park right next to the community center that it was in, so we made a morning of it most fridays and packed a big snack or a lunch too and had a great time.. 

Campbell of course was in his element and loved the class so much, he was hugely disappointed when they ended..  It was also the first class that he actually thanked me for signing him up for it.. and did so regularly.. It was super nice.. going to keep an eye out for more art classes for him.. when it was done for the summer.. he asked if I could sign him up for another art class but one that was every day.. Maybe an art camp next summer would be a good idea..

Sunday June 16, 2013 Daddy's Day and Thursday June 20, 2013 - Daddy covers daycare..

Daddy's Day..  The boys had made a lot of stuff for Daddy, some even at art class and they were super proud to give it to him.. He also got a gift card for his favourite hobby. :)

Daddy took today off to cover for daycare.. I think he enjoyed it as a change from work and so did the kids..

June - Soccer Purple Team photo.

Here is Campbell's soccer team photo for this year.. He was on the purple team and so was his buddy Danylko from one street over.. Danylko is next to the soccer ball sitting and Campbell is standing behind him.. They had two of the best coaches. It was a great season and Campbell really enjoyed it.. I think we might have a goalie on our hands though because in every game as soon as the other team touched the ball, Campbell was running for the net..
