Saturday September 20, 2014 - Evening Kite Flying

Ok.. So I am sure we all remember at some point trying to fly a kite by running and holding up a kite and trying really hard to get the thing to go up in the air and fly.. All in all when it didn't go up or stay up long, in the end it seemed like more work than fun.. Well.. we have found the trick.. don't go out unless the wind will literally almost knock you over (I know every knows it is supposed to be windy for a kite but honestly I have tried on other windy days but it didn't work.. the wind needs to be really really high)..
It was super warm Saturday but a storm was coming in and the wind was high.. but it was a warm wind which made it nice.. so we headed down to the fieldian grounds in Kars, only a few minutes drive for us.. And we took our massive dinosaur kite that we got the beginning of the summer at Costco..
Did we ever have a blast!! The kite flew with hardly any effort at all.. and the kids ran and took a turn flying the kite (Miles got a little sad on his turn as the string holder spun and hurt his hand.. He wasn't quite strong enough to be able to stop it from spinning, but he just played and enjoyed and didn't want another turn.) and J even flew the kite low to play with the kids.. it was so much fun.. I must say I think it brought the kid out of J and myself too.. Here are a few pics..
Campbell was a natural.. but enjoyed giving it to J and running around too. :)
J rock star flying the kite.. ;)
Our crazy huge Dinosaur kite.. :)
The kids playing with the kite tails while J flew it low and then made it go up higher.. So much fun..

Saturday September 20, 2014 - Miles First Skating Lesson - Video

Miles was so good about going on the ice by himself and going off with his group.. I was so thrilled.. but this is also the first time for Miles to be on skates. Last year we went a few times but he had the skates with two blades strapped to him boots. So for him keeping his balance on the ice was much harder and unfortunately the little guy got upset with all the falling down. I had to go over to the other side of the rink where his group was and have a chat with him. He wanted to stay with me and not go back out on the ice. I just kept telling him that falling was a big part of learning and that everyone falls cause ice is slippery, that there wasn't much time left to his lesson and he could do it. Just to take babysteps and try his best. He just kept saying over and over again "No Thank You". Very cute.. but he did agree to go back out there and I was there to do a lot of cheering him on. I was so unbelievably proud of him for going back out there.. here is the video of him going away from me and back to his group. He did so great.. Then he proceeded to turn around and work his way back to me and fell and started to cry.. but hey he went back out and he says he is up for going back again this week. YEAH MILES!!

Saturday September 20, 2014 - Campbell's First Skating Lesson - Video

Campbell did super well.. he only fell a few times and really listened to the instructor. They start out by telling them to do baby steps on the ice. Here he is going and getting the rubber duckie that the instructor spread out in different spots. Only him and one other kid in his group actually did this. Super proud of him..

Saturday September 20, 2014 - First Skating Lesson for the Boys..

So we thought this Fall might be a good time to get the boys into skating.. so they are both taking a learn to skate lessons program.. Here they are in the changeroom just after getting their skates and helmets on.. I think that Campbell was a bit more excited and Miles was more unsure as to what was going to happen.

Here they are waiting to go on the rink.. One more skate tightening session happened right here with me on the ground trying my best to get them tighter.

I was so proud of them.. They both are on the ice at the same time but in different groups. So they were called onto the ice at different times. Neither of them said anything about not going.. super nice to see.
Here is Miles going off with his group..

Here is Campbell doing stretches and keeping his balance very well with his group.

September 4, 2014 - First day of Senior Kindergarten for Campbell

So Campbell's first day of Senior Kindergarten (SK) was on September 4, 2014. We went on the 2nd and met the teacher and saw his classroom, etc. He had some trouble sleeping the next couple of days in anticipation or nervousness of the big day. This year he is in French Immersion program and will be doing half of his day in French.
Here is Campbell waiting for the bus on the first day of SK.. Much different expression from last year..

The two brothers waiting for Campbell's bus for the first day of SK..

Campbell at supper the night of the first day of SK.. I think that he is a bit tired.. He didn't sleep the greatest the night before and school really wears him out.. wasn't sure he was going to eat his supper, but he did in the end. ;)

2014 August - Fun at the Jumping Place.. Video..

There is an indoor trampoline place in Ottawa that the boys absolutely love.. They basically have trampolines everywhere.. it is wild and a lot of fun.. here are the boys having fun on a rainy day this summer.. we were lucky that we didn't have a lot of them.. but the boys would have liked it if we had.. cause they kept asking to go here.

2014 August - Bracebridge Visit, cottage and just good old fun at home.. Lots of fun..

Had a great time visiting with everyone.. spent Friday night with Poppa and Joanne.
Saturday night with the whole gang..
They ran and played.. Had so much fun..
Cousins in the hot tub.. turned down of course.. ;) Always have a blast in Oma's hot tub.. They are all pruned like crazy when we finally get them out.

Croquet anyone.. Lots of fun.

Friends of ours, Mark and Diane, were kind enough to invite us up to their cottage for an overnight and were so amazing to still invite just the boys and I when J was going to be away. It was an awesome time and we had a blast.. Everyone there was so amazing, helping me watch the boys and playing with them.. It was a great time and truly made me thankful for the amazing people we are so lucky to have in our lives.
Mark took Campbell out in the kayak at least 3 times and Campbell was quoted as saying "It was a fantastic ride."
Me and my boys.. chilling on the amazing inflatable dock that the boys totally wore themselves out playing on..
The boys playing with Mark on the inflatable dock.

Another of Campbell's kayak rides with Mark and Diane is on the back hitching a ride. :) They are such fun and amazingly kind people.

The boys looking for fish.. my two and Gregory.. Campbell's new best friend. When they woke up Sunday morning Campbell was excited to see his new friend Gregory and Miles was excited to see his new friend Mark.. It was super cute..
Some friends over for lunch in the bunny room.. which we have enjoyed and used all the time this summer.. it was so great to have this extra space that we love..
Campbell receiving his medal after his soccer tournament. This was his first year to have a tournament.. would have been much more fun if it wasn't rainy and cold. (at least it would have been more fun for us watching, I think Campbell still had a blast)
Ita came over for supper and the boys had a blast with her. Campbell showing her his JK memories book.. Miles had to of course bring her upstairs and show her his new bunk bed..

Our favourite picture of the summer.. just one of our many trips to the park but caught this picture of pure happy on a tire swing brothers.. So much fun and here are the two faces to prove it. :)
Of course no summer is complete without a trip to a fair.. It was almost the end of the summer when we got to do it.. but we did and the boys had a blast.. Here they are in a monkey that spins ride.
Up in a bee that flies..
Having some of the largest pogos ever.. Campbell's is a foot long.. and of course some lemonade..

2014 July - Brothers... Such great buddies.. Video

The boys this summer have really become even more buddies.. It has been great to see them playing and getting along more and more.. They now have their own conversations and even can sometimes work things out on their own, using words..
Here they are having fun together at a friend's pool.. Campbell volunteered and wanted to help Miles in the pool.. catching him at the end of the slide.. It was a proud moment for me to see them working this out on their own. Too cute..

2014 July - Back home for lots of fun..

This summer Miles truly is a big boy.. off to camp all by himself while Campbell went to a soccer camp that was for 5 year olds and up. He was great posing for pictures with his backpack on and had a great day.. but when he saw me, he broke out in tears saying that he missed me and missed Campbell.. too cute..
Even though at the end of the day before was an emotional one. I did get the thumbs up for going on day two.. what a big boy.. He went to other camps the rest of the summer but the rest were with Campbell and he definitely liked going with his brother more than on his own.. Can't blame him, really.

Raspberry picking at a nearby you pick.. Lots of fun and the boys are actually really good at it..
Campbell posing at the you pick.. we got a full basket of rasberries in no time, with these two picking.. they both love raspberries but didn't eat them there.. they wanted them for at home.

Campbell's favourite thing this summer.. having water fights.. lots of fun on a summer's day..
Not sure how Daddy got the hose when Campbell had the little squirter.. too funny.. but definitely lots of fun..

2014 July - Newfoundland trip and lots of fun..

Went to Newfoundland for a week.. had a blast visiting everyone and site seeing..
Saw some icebergs even though they were small and a bit far off from where we were.
My boys in front of the two small icebergs.. We saw a bunch while we were landing.

 Campbell the canon ball.. ha!!

Miles having fun in the swing..

Campbell hanging out.. upside down. Loving climbing on jungle jims..

Miles playing on the tire mountain..

Fun be silly with cousins at the Nature Park..

Everyone loved meeting the new addition, little Penny. Sweetest little baby ever..
Campbell was so taken with his new cousin Penny. Loved holding her and even giving her a bottle.. So cute how long he would just stare at her while he was holding her.

Having fun squirting and playing in the water..

2014 June - Busy Summer but FULL of FUN!!

June - Both boys started soccer the beginning of June.. Miles was thrilled to finally be playing on his own team and not tagging along with Campbell's.
The boys slept out in a tent in the backyard with J.. Had a campfire and lots of fun.

Campbell had his last day of JK.. he had a very different expression on his face from the first day..

Having lots of fun with Friends..

Miles and Campbell went to Gym Tale Camp.. Miles' first time with a backpack and lunch for his full day at camp. What a big boy.. They both had lots of fun and were super good.
