Saturday September 20, 2014 - Evening Kite Flying
Ok.. So I am sure we all remember at some point trying to fly a kite by running and holding up a kite and trying really hard to get the thing to go up in the air and fly.. All in all when it didn't go up or stay up long, in the end it seemed like more work than fun.. Well.. we have found the trick.. don't go out unless the wind will literally almost knock you over (I know every knows it is supposed to be windy for a kite but honestly I have tried on other windy days but it didn't work.. the wind needs to be really really high)..
It was super warm Saturday but a storm was coming in and the wind was high.. but it was a warm wind which made it nice.. so we headed down to the fieldian grounds in Kars, only a few minutes drive for us.. And we took our massive dinosaur kite that we got the beginning of the summer at Costco..
Did we ever have a blast!! The kite flew with hardly any effort at all.. and the kids ran and took a turn flying the kite (Miles got a little sad on his turn as the string holder spun and hurt his hand.. He wasn't quite strong enough to be able to stop it from spinning, but he just played and enjoyed and didn't want another turn.) and J even flew the kite low to play with the kids.. it was so much fun.. I must say I think it brought the kid out of J and myself too.. Here are a few pics..
Campbell was a natural.. but enjoyed giving it to J and running around too. :)
J rock star flying the kite.. ;)
Our crazy huge Dinosaur kite.. :)
The kids playing with the kite tails while J flew it low and then made it go up higher.. So much fun..

Saturday September 20, 2014 - Miles First Skating Lesson - Video
Miles was so good about going on the ice by himself and going off with his group.. I was so thrilled.. but this is also the first time for Miles to be on skates. Last year we went a few times but he had the skates with two blades strapped to him boots. So for him keeping his balance on the ice was much harder and unfortunately the little guy got upset with all the falling down. I had to go over to the other side of the rink where his group was and have a chat with him. He wanted to stay with me and not go back out on the ice. I just kept telling him that falling was a big part of learning and that everyone falls cause ice is slippery, that there wasn't much time left to his lesson and he could do it. Just to take babysteps and try his best. He just kept saying over and over again "No Thank You". Very cute.. but he did agree to go back out there and I was there to do a lot of cheering him on. I was so unbelievably proud of him for going back out there.. here is the video of him going away from me and back to his group. He did so great.. Then he proceeded to turn around and work his way back to me and fell and started to cry.. but hey he went back out and he says he is up for going back again this week. YEAH MILES!!
Saturday September 20, 2014 - Campbell's First Skating Lesson - Video
Campbell did super well.. he only fell a few times and really listened to the instructor. They start out by telling them to do baby steps on the ice. Here he is going and getting the rubber duckie that the instructor spread out in different spots. Only him and one other kid in his group actually did this. Super proud of him..
Saturday September 20, 2014 - First Skating Lesson for the Boys..
So we thought this Fall might be a good time to get the boys into skating.. so they are both taking a learn to skate lessons program.. Here they are in the changeroom just after getting their skates and helmets on.. I think that Campbell was a bit more excited and Miles was more unsure as to what was going to happen.
Here they are waiting to go on the rink.. One more skate tightening session happened right here with me on the ground trying my best to get them tighter.
Here is Miles going off with his group..
Here is Campbell doing stretches and keeping his balance very well with his group.
September 4, 2014 - First day of Senior Kindergarten for Campbell
So Campbell's first day of Senior Kindergarten (SK) was on September 4, 2014. We went on the 2nd and met the teacher and saw his classroom, etc. He had some trouble sleeping the next couple of days in anticipation or nervousness of the big day. This year he is in French Immersion program and will be doing half of his day in French.
Here is Campbell waiting for the bus on the first day of SK.. Much different expression from last year..

Campbell at supper the night of the first day of SK.. I think that he is a bit tired.. He didn't sleep the greatest the night before and school really wears him out.. wasn't sure he was going to eat his supper, but he did in the end. ;)
